1925 BSA 557cc Combination Motorcycle Model H. This is the heavy duty Deluxe model fitted from new with BSA sports touring sidecar. The original owner purchased the bike in July 1925 with money he earned from prize fighting. It was his only transport and was regularly used to travel long distances, often transporting his family of four from London to Newcastle to visit relatives before the war. This amazing outfit passed to his son in May 1947. It continued to get much use and was regularly seen on VMCC rallies (including several of the 70 mile Banbury runs) until his recent passing. The sidecar has a side door for access and a rear compartment with a dicky seat for a child (or a useful storage compartment). A six volt battery is stored under the dickey seat along with space for some of the tools and spares originally carried on its many long runs. Additional tools/spares are carried under the main seating compartment which has ample leg room. The original acetylene lighting set was converted to electric in the late 1920's. At the same time BSA's newly introduced drum brakes were added along with a front wheel driven Cowes Speedometer set. The bike starts easily and runs well. The history file contains photos of the outfit when new, books, manuals, VMCC references to this bike, a old type buff log book and a current V5C registration document. A rare opportunity to purchase a genuine long distance touring outfit with lovely history. £Sold.
